Growth doesn’t have to mean hitting a milestone; it can also mean showing up and doing mundane tasks. Krystal, the primary caregiver to her children, ages 9 and 5, knows this well.
Despite facing multiple barriers to entering the workforce, she is committed to overcoming them. Through our ParentsNext program, Krystal has been attending her face-to-face appointments and actively building her pre-employment skills with the support of her mentor, Marine. From working on her resume to utilising the support available to sort her National Police Check and WWVP application, Krystal is progressing towards her employment goals.
Equally significant is Krystal’s social presence in her local community. She is a regular at morning tea sessions and actively interacts with other program participants. Her social skills and networking abilities, nurtured through the program, are strengthening with each passing day.
When asked about her favourite part of the program, Krystal shares, “Having some good chats with nice people and receiving advice about work and whatever else I need help with.”
We are rooting for Krystal to fulfill her dreams!
