Meet Charlie—a flamboyant go-getter who’s eager to roll up his sleeves and chase his dreams.
Growing up on a farm, he developed a love for growing fresh produce and various farming practices. When Charlie connected with Workforce Australia Services, he was keen to expand his skills and step into a job that supported his interests.
With help from his Employment Coach, Jo, Charlie could access the right training and resources. He completed a TAFE course in agricultural chemical skills and has been steadily adding to this, including a first aid certificate and ongoing driving lessons to obtain his driver’s license.
Today, Charlie is working as a florist in the city. He balances his job with volunteer work, managing a food resilience program. Now that he has secured employment, our post-placement support ensures he is set up for long-term success. With regular check-ins from our Post-Placement Officer, Denita, Charlie receives ongoing assistance—whether it’s workwear, equipment, or simply having someone in his corner to support him in staying on track.
This enables Charlie to work towards his bigger dream: Having his own farm and supplying fresh, local produce to the Tasmanian market. We’re proud of how far he’s come and excited to see him achieve further!
Congratulations Charlie!
