Jacob had tried a couple of jobs and put in the hours, but he wasn’t satisfied with his career direction. He realised that his personal experiences – the lessons, the resilience, the empathy he’d developed – could be valuable assets in helping others. He figured that taking on a support role might be the perfect way for him to find fulfilment.
Building on the transferrable skills he’d picked up in his earlier jobs, Jacob took a step forward through Workforce Australia Services. His Employment Coach, Louisa, helped him enrol in a Certificate III in Individual Support, encouraging him to dive into the kind of work he thought could make a real difference.
Now, Jacob is a Disability Support Worker at Making it happen Support, putting those personal experiences and professional skills to meaningful use. With help from our Employer Services Officer, Leisa, Jacob found the right job and is getting the support he needs to hit the ground running.
