We are pleased to share that Cody, a client of our Workforce Australia Services, has been nominated for both the Work and Training Awards and the Tasmanian Training Awards in the Vocational Student of the Year category.
The Tasmanian Training Awards is an annual event that celebrates the success of Trainees and Apprentices in Tasmania. The event is hosted by Skills Tasmania, which also holds its own Work and Training Awards Night to recognise exceptional Trainees, Apprentices, and Students. The awards ceremony is scheduled for Friday, September 8th, 2023, at Wrest Point in Hobart.
Cody began his journey with us about a year ago when he met his Employment Coach, Denita. During their initial meeting, they discussed Cody’s interests and career goals. Cody agreed that he could improve his reading and writing skills, so Denita arranged for him to take one-on-one Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessments with Fiona at the Sorell Library. Meanwhile, Cody was enrolled in a Cert III in Aged Care (Disability).
Denita noticed a significant change in Cody’s attitude and confidence after he started the course. He was thrilled when he landed a job at McDonalds and showed extraordinary perseverance in balancing work and school.
Cody did his work placement at Lilian Martin home, where he impressed everyone with his empathy, adaptability, and flexibility. During their appointments, Denita sensed the passion Cody had developed for this role. When she asked if Lilian Martin would hire him, Cody said, “Yes, they love me because I have such a big heart.”
It’s no surprise that Cody’s employer has now nominated him for the Vocational Student of the Year award, as he is passionate about his role and always goes the extra mile for his clients and co-workers. We are glad to have provided Cody with support and assistance throughout his journey and are proud of his achievements.
