When our Employment coach, Lara, and Post Placement Field Officer, Denita, dropped by the Brighton Hotel, they found Toni right in her element. She’d been called in to cover a shift, and her face lit up as she spotted the two people who’d supported her journey back into the workforce.
For Toni, re-entering the job market was both challenging and exciting, as she was keen to enter an industry she felt passionate about but lacked the formal training. That’s where Workskills Tasmania came into the picture. Guided by her coach, Lara, Toni leapt at the opportunity to participate in the Hospitality Ready course through the Southcentral Workforce Network Jobs Hubs, which included both theoretical knowledge and a work-placement to give Toni her first real taste of hospitality work.
Her next big milestone was completing her Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification, which opened even more doors. Soon, she found herself at the Brighton Hotel, putting her new skills to work.
The transition too wasn’t without its challenges, but Toni didn’t face them alone. Denita, her Post Placement Field Officer, offered consistent guidance, helping her adapt to her new role. Toni expressed deep gratitude, especially for the support in fixing her car, noting the difference it made to have people around her invested in her success.
Cheers to the beginning of what could be a rewarding journey in hospitality for Toni.
