Meet budding hospitality star Ethan.
When he joined Transition to Work Ethan had already had a few months of work experience in hospitality – a really great start. Unfortunately, it was still proving tricky to find work and Ethan knew that he needed to build some more skills to set himself up for success. Ethan’s coach Blair helped him pin down his goals and identify some tangible steps to get him started. Together they started ticking these actions off – one at a time. First Ethan enrolled in a Certificate III in hospitality and brushed up his job application skills. Next they uncovered some solid referees to help Ethan stand out when applying for work and he started applying for work. A Responsible Conduct of Gambling certificate.
Finding the right job is never easy, and for most of us it takes a few goes until we find success. For young people, it can be even harder. Employers are often looking for people with extensive experience – but to get experience you need a job right!
We loved seeing Ethan’s tenacity throughout this process. He is a great communicator and really demonstrated a willingness to learn from set-backs along the way. That persistence paid off in the end.
